Mohandas Gandhi

Mohandas Gandhi was a major Indian political and spiritual leader.

The renegade Time Lord Rollo once claimed that Gandhi had "learn[ed] pacifism from him". (GAME: "Player Characters" [+]Part of The Iytean Menace, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1985).)

In 1946 the Mahatma gave an address to Hindu and Muslim clerics, which was also attended by Fu Manchu's son and Bernard Bresslaw. (PROSE: The Beasthouse)

The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble met Gandhi in Calcutta in 1947. He was soon assassinated — shot in the heart — on 30 January 1948. His last words were "Hey Rama" — "Oh God". (PROSE: Ghosts of India)

According to the Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswald once had an argument with Gandhi. (TV: Under the Lake)

His likeness was included in a display at Madame Tussauds of famous historical figures. (TV: Spearhead from Space) An image of Gandhi was projected by the Atraxi during their meeting with the Eleventh Doctor. (TV: The Eleventh Hour)

Gandhi was the subject of a film which Donna had seen. She believed that he looked just like he did in the film. (PROSE: Ghosts of India)
