Myth Makers is a semi-professional series of video interviews with the cast and crew of Doctor Who (and later, to a small extent, other productions) which have been produced by Reeltime Pictures since the mid-1980s. The series - which has numbered more than 50 releases - was not produced for broadcast, but instead was issued exclusively on VHS and, later, DVD. Nicholas Briggs hosted and acted as interviewer for the series in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Among those featured in extensive interviews were Tom Baker (actually featured twice) and Jon Pertwee. Nicholas Briggs hosted and acted as interviewer for most of the series. One episode of the series, Myth Runner, was a comedy film parodying Doctor Who and Blade Runner which featured outtakes from the production of the series.
Most of the Myth Makers releases have never been made available in North America, however in the early days of the series (mid-late 1980s), there was some limited distribution to comic book shops through the American-based company Pleiades.
Mark Ayres, a composer for the Doctor Who series during its final seasons, was commissioned to write music for the videos, and this later resulted in the release of a soundtrack album, Myths and Other Legends on Silva Screen Records (FILMCD 088).
The Myth Makers series is still being produced, with an August 2009 release focusing on Telos Publishing.
