Nanoforms, also called a Steel Cascade, (AUDIO: The Steel Cascade) were nanites created by Genetec Systems.

Abilities[]

The Nanoforms were tiny robots that deconstructed objects on a molecular level and then reconstructed them into a new form. They needed to be kept at sub-zero temperatures to remain inactive. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon)

History[]

A type of Nanoform, codenamed the Steel Cascade, were present in an alien supercomputer that became the desire of several militaries during the Cold War. In 1966 Anton Skutnick took this computer onto the cruise ship SS Jolly Wanderer. After being poisoned by a Soviet Union spy Dasha Petrov, he gave the computer to Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. Doom took a component and smashed it onto the ground, causing the nanoforms to take over the entire ship and turn it and its occupants into supercomputers. They were destroyed when Doom scuttled the ship, causing it to sink. (AUDIO: The Steel Cascade)

Another type of Nanoform were created by Genetec Systems, but they could only make extremely minor modifications. Genetec falsified their results and claimed to be able to do more advanced tricks. When Sarah Jane Smith investigated them, she was thrown out of the building.

When Androvax later took over Sarah's body, he used the knowledge contained in Mr Smith to correct the problems, allowing the Nanoforms to work. He programmed them to reproduce, create a spacecraft to escape Earth and to then dissolve the planet. When Androvax was captured, Luke Smith was able to reprogram the Nanoforms to stop. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon)

A certain type of Cybermat used nanoforms which the Eleventh Doctor termed "Cybermat Nanoforms". (GAME: Blood of the Cybermen)
