Nefta was a villager living in Klimtenburg during the 19th century and the wife of Vadim. When her husband found a strange metal, which they did not know to be part of a Hapthoid reactor unit from a crashed Cyberman spaceship, Nefta worked the metal into jewellery for the villagers. The Talismans began spreading Hapthoid Radiation Sickness which the villagers believed to be a plague until the Eleventh Doctor arrived and investigated, but by then Nefta and Vadim had already been killed by the radiation poisoning.
