Nerys was a friend of Donna Noble, with whom she shared a love-hate relationship.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Nerys first met Donna on their first day of school, during which Donna bit her arm, leaving a mark which Nerys later claimed to still be there, although it was invisible. She believed that Donna always had to be the "centre of attention". (PROSE: Nerys [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

Nerys once played Mary in a school Christmas Nativity play in the 1970s opposite Donna as a donkey. She screamed and nearly dropped the doll of the baby Jesus Christ when a window shattered, causing Donna to break character and shout at her. (COMIC: Untitled [+]Alan Barnes, DWM Comics (Panini Comics, 2023).)

Adult life[]

At some point, according to Donna, Nerys got pregnant with twins using a turkey baster. (TV: The Doctor's Daughter [+]Stephen Greenhorn, Doctor Who series 4 (BBC One, 2008).)

In May 2007, Nerys and Donna went on a night out with Mooky Kahari, Veena Brady, and "Mad Alice", where they talked about "all the ghosts [that] turned into robots", which somehow devolved into a discussion about Donna's Spanish scuba-diving holiday.

When Donna got two different job offers — a "posh job" in the city, or a position as a secretary at Capital Copies — Nerys convinced her to "follow [her] dream" and take the city job, primarily because she had her eye on the secretary job herself, which she eventually got, though she came to regret her decision by September. (PROSE: Nerys [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

Nerys was a guest at Donna's wedding to Lance Bennett on Christmas Eve, where she witnessed Donna disappear as she walked down the aisle, being transported to the Doctor's TARDIS by the Huon particles in her system, (TV: The Runaway Bride [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2006 (BBC One, 2006).) leaving Nerys, unconvinced by what she had just witnessed, to remark that she had "seen better on YouTube". (PROSE: Nerys [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.) Conversely, Donna believed the event to be some kind of practical joke arranged by Nerys. When Donna finally got to her reception, she was not amused to find Nerys moving in on Lance. (TV: The Runaway Bride [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2006 (BBC One, 2006).)

On Boxing Day, Donna called Nerys to tell her that she was giving up work to go travelling. Nerys told her to let her know when she gets back. (PROSE: Nerys [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

Nerys later attended Donna's wedding to Shaun Temple in 2010. Though their relationship appeared to have improved, albeit marginally, (TV: The End of Time (part two) [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2009 and New Year Special 2010 (BBC One, 2009-2010).) she secretly proclaimed that she would "get her back" for making her wear a peach dress to the ceremony. (PROSE: Nerys [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

At some point prior to November 2023, (PROSE: The Star Beast [+]Gary Russell, adapted from The Star Beast (Russell T Davies), 60th Anniversary Novels (Target Books, 2023).) Nerys got into some kind of accident, which Shaun told the Fourteenth Doctor was her own fault. (TV: The Star Beast [+]Russell T Davies, adapted from Doctor Who and the Star Beast (Pat Mills and John Wagner), Doctor Who 2023 specials (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).)

Legacy[]

During her travels with the Tenth Doctor, Donna bought Nerys a pair of "tacky" slippers for Christmas. (COMIC: Frosty the Snowdemon [+]Christopher Cooper, DWA comic stories (BBC Magazines, 2008).)

The Fourteenth Doctor claimed to be a friend of Nerys's to gather information from Shaun about Donna's life in the time since he last saw her. (TV: The Star Beast [+]Russell T Davies, adapted from Doctor Who and the Star Beast (Pat Mills and John Wagner), Doctor Who 2023 specials (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).)
