Nikolai Faro was an ambassador for his country.

Faro was approached by a composer from his country, named Isaac, who had been experiencing persecution. He wanted asylum in Britain. Faro was intrigued by a piece of Isaac's music and had him brought to Britain.

After Isaac's apparent suicide, Sarah Jane Smith and the Third Doctor talked with Faro. Sarah had many questions about Isaac, only some of which Faro was able to answer. The Doctor asked Faro if Isaac's music was at all familiar to him, and Faro was shocked to realise that it was familiar. (PROSE: An Overture Too Early)
