From left to right Robert Mann, Mrs Mann, M. Sillington, Major Wooley, Miss Gibbs, Clive Plympton, and the Tenth Doctor at No.1 Gallows Gate Road

No.1 Gallows Gate Road was a house at the Gallows Gate Road in Sydenham. The house had a dining room, a drawing room, several bedrooms, a kitchen, an attic, a basement and a garden. In the garden of the house was an oak tree. It was possessed by an alien who fed on the ambitions of the people near the tree.

The people who lived near the house told each other rumours about it. They said it was cursed. During the 18th century criminals were executed on No 1. Gallows Gate Road at the oak tree.

In 1940 Mrs Mann was the owner of the house. Bertha Baxter was the cook and Major Wooley had a bedroom upstairs. The other residents were Robert Mann, M. Sillington, Miss Gibbs, Clive Plympton, and the Tenth Doctor.

All of the residents were affected by the power of the alien who took their potentials, ambitions and motivations away. Only Robert Mann wasn't affected. Robert still hadn't decided what he wanted to be in life so the alien had no ambition to feed on. The Tenth Doctor told Robert that Robert was the only one who could cut down the tree. Robert did it and the other residents got back their ambition. (PROSE: Number 1, Gallows Gate Road)
