Nyder was a Lieutennant in the Kaled's Military Elite, following a rescue operation of Davros from a Thal dome Davros promoted him to Security Commander prior to Davros' take-over of the Kaled government. (BFD: Guilt) He was Davros' most trusted associate, and personal aide, icily efficient he obeyed Davros's every order. He was in the end exterminated by the Daleks as he tried to carry out Davros's instructions.
Despite certain misgivings about Davros's more complicated plans (he preferred the more direct approach due to his military background), he never wavered and had no issue with the genocide of his own people and of the Thals to achieve Davros's goals. Also cunning and sly, though not as intelligent as Davros he was still able to trick members of the Scientific Elite into revealing their treachery against Davros. (DW: Genesis of the Daleks)

Aside from his appearance in I, Davros chapter 4: Guilt, Peter Miles returned in the role of Nyder for two one-off productions of a play, The Trial of Davros. In the first production he appeared alongside Michael Wisher, the original actor to play Davros. In the second, following Wisher's death, he appeared alongside Terry Molloy, who took over the role of Davros from Resurrection of the Daleks onward.
