The O.K. Corral was a small horse corral in Tombstone, Arizona, where the rival Earp and Clanton families met for a gunfight in October 1881.
Wyatt and Virgil Earp wanted revenge on the Clantons for their killing of their younger brother Warren Earp. The Clantons, Ike, Billy and Phineas, agreed to meet for the fight, with the Earps choosing the O.K. Corral as the location. The Clantons were also aided by Johnny Ringo, who was to circle behind the Earps and shoot them in the back. Doc Holliday sided with the Earps.
The gunfight took place outside the O.K. Corral and saw the Earps and Holliday kill the Clantons and Ringo. (TV: The Gunfighters)
Shortly before his death on 10 November 1887, Holliday gave a detailed account of an aspect of the gunfight which was not generally recorded in the history books, involving another Doctor. (PROSE: The Gunfighters)
