"Only the Lonely" was a song popular in 1960s Britain. At some point prior to 1963, a Coal Hill School student made up a lyric that went "Lastly the Ghastly" — a reference to the students' nickname for Mr Grange. Since then, Grange punished students for even whistling the tune near him. (PROSE: Time and Relative)
