Paignton was a scientist who lived in the red house, attempting to extract the werewolf essence out of the wolf-creatures isolated on an island on her colony world. She was genuinely interested in helping her subjects, but she was blinded by her fixation on the idea, not even bothering to listen to Charlotte Pollard after she was captured in the belief that she was another transformed wolf. The Valeyard acted as her porter as part of his plan to steal her psychic extractor to use in a later scheme against the Sixth Doctor. (AUDIO: The Red House)
