The likeness of the "future Doctor" is based on Nicholas Briggs, who portrayed the Doctor in the AudioVisuals series of unlicensed audio dramas; his companion Ria also first appeared in the AudioVisuals.
In the panel where the Doctor asks the bartender 'Really? Anyone in particular?', an alien on the left who very closely resembles Bart Simpson can be seen at one of the tables.
