Project: Longinus was a 2005 The Forge comic story written by Cavan Scott and Mark Wright and released online.

This story was the first in a three-part online comic miniseries featuring William Abberton (AKA Nimrod) and the Forge who both debuted in the Big Finish Productions monthly range story Project: Twilight. Oracle, the Forge's security system, also made a return having first appeared in Project: Lazarus. Scott and Wright had retained the rights to their creations and had decided to create a spin-off series featuring them in lead roles.

Summary[]

The immortal vampire Nimrod performs a daring heist on the allegedly impenetrable Hecht Museum of Unexplained and Occult Material on a mission to procure the famed Lance of Longinus.

Plot[]

Five miles beneath the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Nimrod falls out of a ventilation shaft onto the fifth floor of the Hecht Museum of Unexplained and Occult Material. Across the museum, creator Rhona McAndrew is alerted to the disturbance by her security detection systems and brings her phone call to a swift end while Nimrod finds the Lance of Longinus and confirms its authenticity with Oracle.

Project Longinus Nimrod

Rhona McAndrew shoots Nimrod in an attempt to stop him obtaining the Lance of Longinus

As the museum's security protocols only allow for authorised members to access the lance, Nimrod prepares to use a synthesised DNA sample that he had created to trick the system. However, McAndrew shows up and opposes him by shooting him in the head. Due to being a vampire, the immortal Nimrod is unscathed and he later reflects that he needn't have bothered going to the trouble of creating his own DNA sample as he simply uses McAndrew's DNA to access the lance after murdering her.

Having collected the Longinus, Nimrod leaves the museum and heads out into the streets of Edinburgh where he reports back to base to inform Frith that his mission was successful.
