Master Quayle was a wealthy villager in a nearby town to Nottingham. When the sheriff invaded and started taking away villagers, he rebelled but was stopped by knights, who were also taking his ward, Marian, away. He pleaded to spare the girl and take him, but the sheriff refused, and Quayle spit in his face. This displeased the sheriff, who said that Quayle would come to regret that. Then, without warning, he unsheathed his sword and stabbed it into Quayle's abdomen, killing him. (TV: Robot of Sherwood)
