Ralph was a Mkali who was enrolled into an English school in the 21st century.
One day, Ralph was in Mrs Swans when he was caught listening to music with his earbuds. Ralph's device was confiscated and that made him angry. He used Mkali technology to send out a jamming signal to all of the other student devices. All the other students were wearing earbuds and the signal interfered with their brain waves, allowing Ralph to control them. He made them act similar to a zombie horde.
The Twelfth Doctor and Jata landed in the school shortly after the students began attacking the teachers. They locked themselves in the school's chapel with several teachers and Ralph. The Doctor took everyone into a secret room in the chapel to escape from the students and then confronted Ralph. He had immediately recognised that Ralph was a Mkali and asked Ralph to reverse what he had done. When Ralph refused, the Doctor called Ralph's mother and told her what Ralph had done. She became very angry at Ralph and landed her spaceship outside the school and took Ralph away. (COMIC: Fear Buds)
