Reginald Tyler was a Cambridge professor and writer.
He started The True History of Planets in 1917, working on it until his apparent death in 1974. William Freer infiltrated the Smudgelings, trying to influence Tyler into changing it from a sword and sorcery epic to a propaganda piece to help Margaret take over the Dog World. He cast a spell to supposedly allow the Smudgelings to see into Tyler's imagination. However, it went wrong and erased his face. It took three months for it to grow back.
In 1972, Noel Coward brought him to the Dog World, where he saw Margaret's plans defeated. The Emperor allowed him to stay on the planet, letting Tyler's wife Enid think he was dead. (PROSE: Mad Dogs and Englishmen)
