Sam was a gaoler. Evelyn Smythe wanted to get their story straight just in case they were asked. He knew of Rachel Ann Donovan's father. He thought that initially the Sixth Doctor was the murderer Rachel was looking for. (AUDIO: A Town Called Fortune)
