Servo-furnishings were robots made to resemble Earth furniture. Some reports suggest that they were created circa the 35th (PROSE: The Dreadful Flap) or 59th century (PROSE: Enter Wildthyme) while others claim that they existed as far back as the 20th and 21st centuries. (PROSE: Lost on Mars)

Appearance[]

Martha Jones thought that they were "like something people in the 1950s always thought the future was going to be like". The Tenth Doctor thought Servo-furnishings were "fantastic", but agreed with Martha that they were a "a bit Lost in Space-y". While many Servo-furnishings resembled pre-existing items of furniture, they sometimes had clear bodies with visible circuitry and machinery. (PROSE: Sick Building)

History[]

The inventor of Servo-furnishings was Ernest Tiermann. After becoming rich from the Servo-furnishing Tiermann moved to an isolated planet with his family and lived in a Dreamhome which was staffed by countless robots. As well as providing the Tiermanns with a life of luxury, these Servo-furnishings were instructed to maintain the Dreamhome's force shields and prevent anyone from leaving the house's grounds without permission. Some, such as Stirpeek were armed with lasers, and had been authorised to kill anyone who endangered the Dreamhome.

When a Voracious Craw came to Tiermann's World, the Dreamhome's Servo-furnishings began malfunctioning. The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones managed to rescue the vending machine Barbara from the influence of the Craw, but not any of the other Servo-furnishings. (PROSE: Sick Building) Afterwards, Barbra fell through the Dreadful Flap and ended up in 2008 Darlington, where she became friends with Iris Wildthyme and worked for MIAOW. (PROSE: The Dreadful Flap, Enter Wildthyme, Wildthyme Beyond!)

Barbra once met a gang of pirate Servo-furnishings, who were mainly a mix of pay-and-display machines, condom machines, and hand-dryers.

Some outdated Servo-furnishings attended Theo Possible's party in the Zona Obscura. One of these Servo-furnishings was a fax machine. (PROSE: Party Kill Accelerator!)
