The sesterce was a currency used in the Roman Empire.

In 64 in Rome, Barbara Wright was auctioned as a slave. After a few negligible offers, the highest reaching 2,500 sesterces, Tavius bid 10,000 sesterces, successfully buying her. (TV: "All Roads Lead to Rome")

In the year 79, a stallholder in Pompeii sold the Doctor's TARDIS to Lobus Caecilius for fifteen sesterces. (TV: The Fires of Pompeii)
