Snowcap was a space tracking station in Antarctica.

History Edit

20th century Edit

The base was originally commanded by General Cutler and operated under International Space Command. Besides its primary function of mission control, it contained an arsenal of cobra missiles and launch facilities for Demeter rockets, each capable of carrying a Z-Bomb. It was supported partially by a relay station in Hawaii. In December 1986, the base was attacked by the Cybermen. Although the Cybermen were ultimately thwarted by the First Doctor, the ordeal resulted in his regeneration into his second incarnation. (TV: The Tenth Planet) The opening of the Snowcap was profiled on the British news earlier in 1986, during which Cutler was interviewed. (PROSE: Mondas Passing)

21st century Edit

In 2006, Snowcap was the headquarters of the FLIPback project, the human race's defence against the sudden reversal of the Earth's magnetic polarity. In December of that year, while under command of General Cutler's daughter Pamela, also a General, the base was again attacked by the Cybermen, this time survivors of the failed Faction invasion (referencing TV: The Invasion). These Cybermen used salvaged Mondasian technology from the 1986 incident, thwarted this time by the Seventh Doctor. (PROSE: Iceberg)
