The Special Weapons Dalek was a key asset of the Imperial Dalek force during the Shoreditch Incident.

While some accounts presented Special Weapons Daleks as a Dalek variant in its own right, with at least one having existed prior to the outbreak of the Imperial-Renegade Dalek Civil War, (COMIC: Emperor of the Daleks!) at least one source presented the Special Weapons Dalek who travelled to 1963 as an utterly unique individual, bred by Emperor Davros, and who was known as the Abomination to other Daleks of its own faction due to being perceived as different and a perversion of the Dalek form. (PROSE: Remembrance of the Daleks)

Biography[]

Bred in a birthing cradle, the Special Weapons Dalek was commissioned by Davros and given a travel unit that was flawed; when the Dalek first fired, the radiation from the backwash saturated its body, mutating it further. Eventually given a travel machine with an enormous pulse gun, the Special Weapons Dalek went on to become a frontline weapon - it fought against the Thals and the Movellans as part of Davros' plan to wipe out two of the Daleks' enemies and to get revenge for past defeats.

Due to the Daleks' motive for racial purity, the other Daleks saw the Special Weapons Dalek as an abomination because each time the Dalek fired its gun, more radiation would saturate its cells. This earned it the nickname "Abomination". The Dalek was also insane because the radiation had altered its mind. It had a sense of self which made the other Daleks afraid of it.

Davros' will was the only thing that kept the others from killing it, but the Special Weapons Dalek seemed to enjoy the fear and hatred it received from its fellows. (PROSE: Remembrance of the Daleks)

It was employed by the Imperial Daleks against the Renegade Daleks to obtain the Hand of Omega during the Shoreditch Incident. After it had done its work, it returned to the Imperial Dalek mothership via the Imperial Dalek Shuttle and was presumably destroyed when the Hand of Omega destroyed the mothership. (TV: Remembrance of the Daleks)

Legacy[]

The Hand of Omega affair was counted by the Dalek Survival Guide as the fifth greatest victory of the Special Weapons Daleks, as a single standard-model Imperial Special Weapons Dalek (second class) was responsible for the defeat of an entire Renegade Dalek task force. The Special Weapons Dalek concerned was cited for an award for Extreme Extermination in the Face of Danger, but was unable to attend the ceremony as the Imperial Daleks were wiped out by the Hand of Omega. The late Special Weapons Dalek was instead granted a posthumous award for services inadvertently rendered by the surviving Renegade Daleks. (PROSE: Dalek Survival Guide)
