Strangulation

Strangulation was the act of choking someone by squeezing their throat.

In Antarctica, the Krynoid which had been Charles Winlett strangled Derek Moberley. In England, plants under the control of the Krynoid which had been Arnold Keeler strangled a number of victims, including a gardener in a rose arbour, an agricultural worker in a kale field, and a woman in a garden maze. Evan Sherman attempted to strangle Toshiko Sato, but was stopped by Gwen Cooper and Owen Harper. (TV: Countrycide [+]Chris Chibnall, Torchwood series 1 (BBC Three, 2006).)

In 2008, one of the Heavenly Host tried to strangle Morvin Van Hoff after he reactivated it, but he was saved by the Tenth Doctor. (TV: Voyage of the Damned [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2007 (BBC One, 2007).)

In 2011, during Miracle Day, a policeman arrested a man who strangled his wife, but was only able to charge him with assault. (TV: Dead of Night [+]Jane Espenson, Torchwood series 4 (Starz, 2011).) Later, Esther Drummond strangled Colin Maloney to unconsciousness. He revived and attempted to strangle her, but Ralph Coltrane shot him. In 2167, Larry Madison strangled his brother Phil, who had been converted into a Roboman. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth [+]Terry Nation, Doctor Who season 2 (BBC1, 1964).)

On Storm Mine 4, the Sandminer robots reprogrammed by Taren Capel to kill the crew did so by strangling them. Chub, Cass, Zilda and Borg were all killed in this manner. (TV: The Robots of Death [+]Chris Boucher, Doctor Who season 14 (BBC1, 1977).)

The Sixth Doctor attempted to strangle Peri Brown following his regeneration, but stopped when he saw his reflection in Peri's mirror. (TV: The Twin Dilemma [+]Anthony Steven, Doctor Who season 21 (BBC1, 1984).)
