In an alternate timeline where the Cybermen used Time Lord resources to conquer all of history, Commander Sturg was a Sontaran who served in what the Sontaran-Prime would later refer to as the Last Great Sontaran War Fleet in the 24th century. (COMIC: Supremacy of the Cybermen)
Biography[]
During the 24th century of an alternate timeline, Sturg led a Sontaran squad in capturing the Tenth Doctor, Gabby and Cindy on the Cosmomart and took them to the Imperial Flagship. When the Flagship crash-landed on Sontar after an attack from the Cybermen, Sturg escorted the Doctor to the Sontaran-Prime, who revealed that the Doctor had been captured to lead the last surviving Sontarans in a final battle against the Cybermen, who had destroyed nearly the entire Sontaran Empire in a campaign to eradicate any species that could constitute a significant threat to the Cyber-Empire.
In the battle against the Cybermen on Sontar, shortly after the Sontaran-Prime sacrificed himself to save the Doctor from a Cyberman, Sturg destroyed the Cyberman who killed the Prime and informed the Doctor of the approaching CyberKings. After realising that the CyberKings' Cyber-Planners were anticipating the Sontarans' actions with complete accuracy, Sturg eventually allowed Gabby and Cindy to pilot a Sontaran scout ship, as the Cybermen's confusion over such an illogical manoeuvre would allow the Doctor to pilot his own Sontaran fighter into a CyberKing.
At the end of the universe, when the Twelfth Doctor allied with a betrayed Rassilon to use the Eye of Harmony on Gallifrey to regenerate the universe, Sturg's encounter with the Tenth Doctor was erased from history, as were the rest of the alternate timeline's events. Personality[]
Sturg's personality was similar to that of most Sontarans, in that he relished warfare. He was also arrogant to a degree, as he referred to the Sontaran fleet he was a part of as invincible despite the Cybermen's annihilation of nearly the entire Sontaran Empire. Sturg initially referred to the Tenth Doctor, Gabby Gonzalez and Cindy Wu as "alien scum", though later showed at least some respect to the Doctor, encouraging Cindy to listen to the Doctor's suggestion that they surrender to the Sontarans, and referring to the Doctor by his military title of field marshal during the Cybermen's invasion of Sontar. Like the other Sontarans, Sturg also help considerable respect for the Sontaran-Prime, although he was too preoccupied with the Cybermen's attack on Sontar to mourn the Prime when he died.
