Seb?[]

The whole Adric uploaded to the Nethersphere sounds like either a fanfic or spam. Isn't there a minimum proof requirement before allowing stuff on the Wiki? I like to think I'm very well versed on the DWU and this 'Seb' story has never crossed my path. Infobox image[]

I changed the picture but I didn't realise this required a discussion, so here it is.

Personally I think the current infobox image is… not very good at all. Yes, it's close up and looking left. And User:CzechOut's reason for using it back in 2011 was that it's from Adric's first story. But I think it's just not a very good picture. Adric is in an awkward position and in my opinion isn't very recognizable, and I don't think it portrays him well as a character. I uploaded File:Adric smiles.jpg (which can be cropped if necessary), and of course there are plenty of other options for images that are viable for the infobox. (Though I don't see any on the wiki currently in Category:Adric images, aside from File:Adric - Earthshock.jpg which a) is probably better used in the article itself and b) is a bit… morbid for the infobox.) I too am not fond of the current image, though I am having trouble finding any suitable replacements. The image of Adric smiling could be good, but it will depend on the cropping. I have another that may be acceptable, so lets start a gallery so people can add more options (such as a cropped version of the "Adric smiles" image). LauraBatham ☎ 06:45, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Actually, guys, I had accidentally uploaded the wrong crop. I've now uploaded the compliant crop.

As for Adric not looking left, I think you'll find T:GTI states that a character looking left is preferable, but not requirement.

From Tardis:Guide to images: "And there are times, when the best picture is one where the character is looking right or vaguely to the centre. That's why it's not a requirement that infobox pics be looking left — but it is a good idea." Look, don't get me wrong, the image I added isn't amazing or anything. However, it is certainly better than the first image, and I'd argue the second image isn't great due to the lighting. Only #3 and #4 look any good IMO, and at least #4 does have good lighting and a genuinely nice expression from Adric. So I would argue that #4 is good, but #3 is better because of the left-facing position.

This seems to have petered out. The consensus so far seems to be for #3, which is a sensible option per policy. Adric is looking left, the image is well cropped, and there are no distractions in the background.

Does anyone have any final objections?

Personally I think that might be a bit much. I know T:GTI says for the image to feature almost entirely the character's face, but any closer and Adric's face will be the whole thing, and he won't have a chin anymore. My whole issue with the current image is that he isn't very recognizable, and the results of cropping it myself give the same effect, at least to me. Chubby Potato ☎ 08:55, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

OK after a week with no more votes, the result of 5-1 for the cropped version of Adric smiling wins. As is usual for Doctor/companion/Master/TV story pages, no one is to change the image without discussion, and there is really no need to change this one for the forseeable future.

For anyone interested, there is a discussion at Talk:Ian Chesterton to change that image. I will propose here that we don't do too many of these at the same time, but that one has already been started so we'll finish that one after enough proposals. Also, it seems that some of the current companions have discussions as well, but since they are active companions we can do any/all of those without waiting.
