I'd like to challenge how common hyperspace travel is. Both the Doctor and Romana consider hyperspace to be an impossibility prior to discovering it is real in Stones of Blood. The Doctor even states: "They say it's a theoretical absurdity, something I've always wanted to be lost in."

If indeed hyperspace travel would be common throughout spacefaring communities in any time, no doubt the Time Lords would not consider it an absurdity or impossibility.

Of course, then there's the problem that the Doctor is quite familiar with the ship's origins, despite not knowing that they had hyperspace capabilities.....

Update tag removal[]

I removed the update tag whose note was:

Needs info on the Doctor giving it to humans in The Eleventh Hour, and Rory's comments on reading up on in in The Vampires of Venice.

Neither example cited actually helps define what FTL is, the Doctor mentions giving it and Rory reads up on it. They're examples of people talking about FTL. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:50, November 28, 2012 (UTC)
