Question[]

At one point Donna compares the Ood's translators to "Persil balls". Aside from Cassandra's erroneous mention of the iPod, can anyone think of other commercial products mentioned in the series? (Real-world products, that is; nothing from International Electromatics or Auto Plastics, please!) Quornhog 22:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean television shows and films as well? Because if you do, I can think of many. The evil dudeArnie 22:43, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Plenty, even if we just restrict it to commercial products within all Doctor Who media it's probably a long list. Though to be fair the term iPod is used now as a umbrella term for all mp3 players (though if you're looking for iPod mentions it's mentioned also in AUDIO: Memory Lane, again not actually referring to specially Apple's music player but just a digital music player. --Tangerineduel 04:53, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't thinking of other TV shows and films, but the sort of things you might find in a supermarket or department store (apart from the DVD's!)

And I would question the assertion that iPod is synonymous with MP3 Players (yet; brand names like Walkman, Hoover and Tannoy do seem to have become generic). Quornhog 12:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

does it make sense to have a unlinked [src] next to --The Doctor?[]

i don't think soQ1712 22:34, 30 April 2008 (UTC) [src]

the last parameter only makes sense when referring to another page:

Now they have the children, they won't need the nanny anymore! The Doctor to Miss Foster, before her death. [src]

Football Team mistakes?[]

At one stage Donna whistles at the doctor, claiming she learnt to whislte at "West Ham every saturday" - West Ham is on the other side of London to Chiswick (Chiswick in the West and Ham/West Ham in the East -in my experience, this is a common mistake made by non-londoners who assume the 'West' in the title means it is is West London) If Donna is from the Chiswick area, then her loyalty should lie with Brentford (Sarah Jane Adventures - based in Ealing makes similar mistakes, constantly mentioning Chelsea, and ignoring the on-the-doorstep Brentford)- granted people do prefer to support bigger teams, but that would mean QPR, Fulham or Chelsea, and maybe at a push Arsenal - West Ham is a very unlikely choice (I've lived in West London all my life and still don't know a single hammers fan) Does Someone need to give Russel T Davies a map of where football teams are?

D&D reference?[]

Should there be an inclusion somewhere that the Ood are direct references/rip-offs of the Illithids from Dungeons and Dragons? Both have an 'elder brain' that all members of the species are psychically linked to, both have the tentacle mouths, both can turn another creature into one of their own, both come from some point in the future, and both are connected to slavery- the illithids are, at 'present' (insomuch as you can have a present in d&d) the slave-masters, however it is often speculated that their arrogance and conviction that they will become the dominant species of the galaxy will lead to a revolution in which the Illithids become slaves to humans- leading to them becoming as the Ood. As far as I know, none of the creators have credited the Illithids as being their inspiration for the Ood, but the similarities are too much to put down to coincidence, IMO... 94.5.58.74 10:46, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
