- "A transolar disc! The Daleks' very particular form of aircraft!"
- ―The Doctor upon seeing Nigel Rochester's "most-prized possession."[src]
Transolar discs, also called hovabouts or hoverbouts, were small circular flying platforms with a railing around the edge that were used by Daleks for operation within a planetary atmosphere, in close planetary orbit and within close to medium range of a Dalek spacecraft.
Daleks aboard transolar discs were used to patrol around Dalek-held planets and in groups to attack spacecraft. (BFDE: The Human Factor) These were also used to attack the enemy human forces attempting to breach the Dalek-held facility Project Infinity on Lopra Minor. (BFDE: Project Infinity)
On an alternate Earth, President Nigel Rochester owned a functioning transolar disc, which he used to take the Doctor on an aerial tour of London. The vehicle was later destroyed by Rochester who claimed that it was "bugged" with a listening device. (BFA: Jubilee)
- It was established that the Daleks of the post-Last Great Time War were capable of flight both in atmosphere or in space without any external assistance, although a transolar disc like device was used by the New Dalek Empire. (DW: Journey's End)
