Viola Learman was the niece of General Mariah Learman, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after the Eurozone wars. She was concerned that her aunt's experiments with time travel were the reason people were forgetting William Shakespeare, but it was really her fault for taking him out of time when he was a young boy.
When Charley and the Eighth Doctor visited London, she befriended them, and helped them unravel the Daleks' plan. During these events, she accidentally took herself and Charley to 1572 and they were almost exterminated by the Daleks. (AUDIO: The Time of the Daleks)
