This page defines a prefix.
Prefixes are used by this wiki to quickly alert the reader to the source of a statement. The most common of these is TV, which indicates the source is a televised story.
The prefix WC refers to:
- webcasts (audio and/or video broadcasts) of Internet-exclusive material on licenced websites such as BBC.co.uk, primarily referring to original stories (i.e. Real Time, Scream of the Shalka)
- webcast-original material which was later re-released in identical form to commercial media (i.e. Dead and Buried)
- text stories or comics published exclusively online (i.e. 42 Prologue, The Return of the Vostok)
It does not refer to:
- verbatim Internet rebroadcasts of existing video or audio stories; the appropriate non-WC prefix takes priority, even when simulcast
- web-based e-books of text stories originally published elsewhere (i.e. PROSE: Lungbarrow) except when the citation is made to web-exclusive content which did not appear in the original version (i.e. File:Wolsey TARDIS console.png)
- in-universe websites - see WEB
- Water Closet
